Following the success of 2017’s Mediatonic Twine Jam, I ran and co-hosted another edition for 2018! This year focused on a more writerly CYOA pursuit, which we are still in the process of converting to an analogue book. More on that to follow.
PC Building Simulator - build and grow your very own computer repair enterprise as you learn to diagnose, fix and build PCs. With real-world licensed components and comprehensive hardware and software simulation, you can plan and bring your ultimate PC to life.
Work on my personal project, GROUNDS (aka the Coffee Game) continues! I took time off in the latter half of 2017 to push forwards with this, and an initial prototype is underway.
GROUNDS is a Puzzle/Visual Novel game inspired by games like 3909's Papers Please and Hanako Games' Long Live the Queen in which you work as a barista in a rail-side coffee house chain, seeing the same commuters day-in, day-out. As the business grows, the coffee styles and orders grow in complexity, as do your relations and friendships with your customers.
In the spirit of NaNoWriMo in November 2017, I led a month-long Interactive Fiction Jam at work, hosting technical workshops for Twine, giving talks on writing stories, and supporting everyone taking part as the month went on. We had 9 finished stories by the end, and got together weekly to check in on our projects.
Bounty Stars - our epic space adventure, sadly came to a premature end in October 2016 after the closure of our publisher, DeNA West (read Mediatonic's statement here: http://bit.ly/2CHcvcs).
Bounty Stars was an RPG/Roguelike on mobile in which you head out across the galaxy to hunt for criminals. Along the way you explore the randomly-generated galaxy, trying to bribe and cajole information on your target from a cast of colourful characters, and trying not to get cut down short in a spaceship showdown or crew shootout on deck.
Heavenstrike Rivals is a collectible card game for mobile in which two captains faced off in deeply tactical, turn-based PvP battle, developed by Mediatonic and published by Square Enix.
Live Operations and support for the game continue, with new content having been released each week since its launch in November 2014. I was intrinsically involved with the community during my time working on the game, hosting live streams where I would play against the players and talk about the thinking behind my unit designs.
Amateur Surgeon 3 is a surgical puzzle game developed by Mediatonic and published by Adult Swim for iOS and Android in which you play Ophelia Payne, rookie surgeon with access to many unconventional tools to treat her bizarre and varied patients.
Upwards, Lonely Robot is a tower-climbing platformer for PC, developed by Random Layers and published by Kasedo Games.
You play as the last android to wake up on a desolate planet seeking answers, or rescue, and no where to seek them but the top of each tower. Each challenging level builds on the skills learnt in the last, for a surprising amount of depth.
Nickelodeon Kids HTML5 Assorted Game set (2014) - including Spongebob: Jellyfish Surfing, Dora the Explorer Matching Game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Pursuit, Dino Train Colouring Book, commissioned and published by Nickelodeon, developed at Angel London.
Delivery Outlaw (2014) is a side-scrolling racing/physics for iOS and Android, developed by Mediatonic and published by Adult Swim, in which you try to flawlessly deliver a package against increasing odds.
The Rabbit And the Moon was a small weekend project I published back in 2014 just for the pure thrill of creating, culminating in a short, illustrated text adventure about a rabbit that finds themselves on a pensive moon.
Foul Play, developed by Mediatonic and published by Devolver Digital in 2013, is a cooperative side-scrolling beat-em-up for Xbox 360 and PC, set on the stage of one man's life: Baron Dashforth, esteemed Victorian Daemonologist.
As a Level Designer on this title, I was responsible for setting up every level - enemy choreography and difficulty balancing, setting up cutscenes and delivering narrative beats.
Death: The Revolt (unreleased) was a prototype for a puzzle game I made over the course of 4 months. The eternal war between Heaven and Hell was reaching a head, and in a Grim Fandango-style puzzler, you, Death, had the sole responsibility of fixing things.
1000 Tiny Claws is an arcade-style action game for PSN / PS Vita developed by Mediatonic, in which you face off against thousands of crawling bugs unleashed by a nasty curse, and try to knock them off the island with Super Smash Bros-style combat.
Who's That Flying!? is an arcade-style side-scrolling shoot-em-up for PSN / PS Vita developed by Mediatonic, in which you (the hero the people don't deserve) defend the city from an onslaught of monsters destined to destroy it.
Monsters (Probably) Stole my Princess is an arcade-style tower-climbing game for PSN / PS Vita developed by Mediatonic, in which the enigmatic Duke chases down Monsters he is positive to have stolen his princess.
Amateur Ninja was a puzzle adventure game for PC, developed by Mediatonic and published by Adult Swim, in which you played as Willow Stiletto, ninja-in-training, who seeks to rescue her dojo from its kidnappers. Learning a new ninja skill each level to go deeper into the Zelda-style dungeons, stealthing around Metal Gear Solid-style to triumph over your opponents - this little game was super ambitious.
